Margent Farm innovate and collaborate
to help support our precious planet
Margent is a hemp farm located in Cambridgeshire England. Our name comes from the margin surrounding our 50 acres of arable fields which acts as a protection zone and natural habitat for wildlife. We are committed to nurturing the topsoil, air and water by practicing organic and regenerative farming methods.

Hemp captures carbon as it grows, absorbing it from our atmosphere and converting it to biomass
Hemp is one of the most efficient carbon-sequestering crops, absorbing more CO₂ per hectare than trees. As it grows, it locks carbon into its stalks, leaves, and roots.
By transforming this biomass into durable forms, our hemp-based materials preserve that carbon and support a low-impact, circular economy — one focused on regeneration, minimal waste and climate-conscious design.

The Margent farmhouse itself is made primarily of hemp from our first harvest
‘Flat House’ was designed by Material Cultures – formerly a cattle yard and shed it remains off-grid and is powered by solar, wind and a bio-mass boiler.

We’ve formed partnerships with trusted leaders in research, education, design, engineering, sustainable property development and architecture.
Our ongoing association with Cambridge University has been key to advancing our research and development and manufacturing, while also driving and shaping education-focused events that foster knowledge sharing and innovation.
Our evolution in R&D and production, engineering advanced bio-composite products and materials designed for the built environment — fusing high-performance engineering with natural intelligence.

Featuring all Margent projects and stuff we find along the way that supports our mission.
